This pest-like humanoid race is a bane to all who conduct business
underground, no matter what their align. Diminuitive, but with powerful
hands for digging, they are a constant annoyance (especially to Dwarves).
These creatures simply seek to cause mischief whenever and wherever they
can. They will cause mine cave-ins if they think it will amuse them, or
dig through underground streambeds to flood other areas for like
purposes. They particularly love wrecking the intricate machinery of
Gnomes, and they consider themselves to be superior pranksters to that
race as well, and if they encounter a group with a Gnomish adventurer,
they will torment all who travel in it until driven off or killed.
They appear almost like Pech, save they do not use tools. Their warrens
are usually filled with items they have stolen from adventurers; they all
have thieving abilities as a 4th level character of that class.
One unusual aspect of the Jincks that Dwarves find particularly maddening
is their tendency to eat gemstones. The Jincks get their nutrition from
soil and hard carapaced creatures, and so have a gizzard like some fowl,
and they line this typically with harder gemstones. A Jincks found and
killed will have 1-8 small base 10gp value gems in it's craw.
