This is the Delver's Dungeon, a first edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons "fan-site" filled with old-school gaming goodness.
1st Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons is the game of choice for me because it is as flexible as I need it, it offers plenty of options as both a player and a Dungeon Master, the modules and supplements are superb and the "signal to noise" ratio prior to the release of the Manual of the Planes, Dungeoneer's Survival Guide and Wilderness Survival Guide was superb. Oriental Adventures and Unearthed Arcana get a pass because they were written in an attempt to save TSR from its creditors (sales of those two books handily accomplished this). Let me be clear: I love the various "Basic" versions of Dungeons & Dragons, up to and including the Rules Cyclopedia released in the late 90's. I have played and continue to play "Original Dungeons & Dragons" with its various supplements and enjoy it. Second Edition Advanced D & D changed many things which didn't need changing (the deletion of certain PC races and the addition of others, the virtual censoring of some of the grittier aspects of the game in both the language of the rules and the artwork). The focus of 2nd edition was away from the successful Greyhawk setting and on the over-the-top Forgotten Realms and Dragonlance campaigns.
Third Edition (a misnomer: the game has no ties to Original D & D, Basic D & D or Advanced D & D) was a rewriting of the game entirely and it bears no resemblance or relevance to Dungeons & Dragons beyond the name of the game and what they call (wholly differently resolved) mechanics. It is, at best, a poor imitation of its forbears.

I am, like you (at least probably like you - if you're this far in the website I'd guess you have at least a passing interest in D & D) a role-playing gamer, someone who really enjoys an older version of the game. I played a lot when I was younger, put the game aside for many years and all but forgot about it. In 1999 I got my wife interested in playing a few sessions (the results of which came to be the first self-created adventure module which you can download from the Delver's Dungeon) and so enjoyed it I decided to start playing again. Since then I've rediscovered the game and gotten more and more folks interested in it. I am by trade a computer geek, a writer of stuff, husband and father. Oh, and a delver in dungeons (not of dungeons, since that implies I dig 'em. I don't. I let my kobold slaves do that.)
Ironically, at the time of this FAQ's creation I only have one campaign going, an Original D & D game being run at a comic store that is VERY local to me. If you are in the Central Florida area and interested in participating, drop me a line. Otherwise, I do occasionally take one-time games on the road. Watch the 'site for such announcements.
There is always room for user-submitted material here at the Delver's Dungeon. Please don't hesitate to drop me a line and we'll work something out. The best place to email me on matters regarding the Delver's Dungeon is thedungeondelver@hotmail.com. As mentioned above, I'll gladly accept bandwidth donations as well via Pay-Pal.
